Coupon Clipping Pays Off!
How much money do you think consumers saved by using coupons last year?
Well, according to the latest report, consumers redeemed more than $3.5 billion in coupons in 2009! That is an increase of 27% over the prior year. Well, it makes sense since the economy is so bad!
This is great news because when coupon redemption is up, there are more coupons available for distribution. More coupons = more savings for us! According to the report:
“The increase in redemption goes hand-in-hand with an increase in distribution. Despite the tight economy, marketers invested heavily in coupons, boosting the number available to the highest level in over 30 years. Brands issued 367 billion coupons, at an average face value of $1.44, indicating that they were committed to promotions in 2009.”
I love those high dollar coupons and we have seen many more of those lately (i.e. $1.50, $2.00, even $3 off)! It looks like those will be around a while longer, too!
So, let’s keep clipping those coupons and saving money!
