Frugal Friday: My Top 10 Money Saving Tips

Everyone has a “top 10″ list for something, right?
Here’s my Top 10 list for saving money:
-
Use my recyclable bags at grocery store. I make sure I do it at CVS and Target every week because they pay me to use it! I shop at Target twice a week and they deduct $0.05 each time I use it. That will add up to $5.20 a year – not much but it’s worth saving the environment and gives me a little in my wallet.
-
Use coupons at the grocery store. Duh. My favorite way to save is to “stack” coupons (using manufacturer + store coupons for one item). I do this at CVS and Target all the time and save big money!
-
Eat out with coupons. I never leave home without them! I’ve signed up for my favorite restaurants’ email programs/birthday clubs and get tons of great coupons! Check out my “Big List” to see for yourself.
-
Combine errands to save gas. This is a no brainer.
-
Reuse as much stuff as possible! I am always reusing sandwich baggies and freezer bags – to the point of driving my husband nuts. But hey, it saves money!
-
Stop using paper towels for cleaning. I use rags as much as possible for cleaning projects and just throw them in with the laundry.
-
Do laundry with full loads to save on water.
-
Turn off lights, fans and unplug electronics when not in use.
-
Set thermostat at 78 in the summer and 68 in the winter.
-
Shop at second hand stores (consignment and thrift). Honestly, it is the only way to buy some of my kids clothing!
